What lip filler actually does
Lip filler is hyaluronic acid — a sugar molecule your body already makes — placed in small amounts in specific parts of the lip.
Hyaluronic acid binds water, so it adds structure and hydration at once. Where it goes determines what changes: the border for definition, the body for volume, the corners for lift.
At Aluna, fillers are placed with precision using Restylane, Juvéderm, Radiesse, and RHA. Mild swelling or bruising may occur but typically resolves in a few days.

What to expect
From booking to settled result
Consultation
We look at your lip proportions at rest and when you smile, and agree on the shape you're after before any product is opened.
Numbing
Topical numbing goes on first. Most of our fillers also contain lidocaine.
Treatment
Thirty to forty-five minutes, placed in small increments so we can assess as we go.
The first few days
Expect swelling — lips swell more than anywhere else on the face. Mild bruising is possible and typically resolves in a few days.
Settling
By about two weeks the swelling is gone and you're seeing the actual result.
Review & maintain
We review at two weeks. Most clients return between six and eighteen months depending on the product and area.

Questions about Lip Filler
Will everyone know?
Not if the goal is balance. Most first-time clients at Aluna treat with half to one syringe, which reads as hydrated and defined rather than obviously filled.
How much swelling should I expect?
Lips swell more than any other area. Expect noticeable swelling for two to three days, and don't judge your result until about two weeks.
Does it hurt?
Topical numbing is applied first and most of our fillers contain lidocaine. Most clients describe pressure more than pain.
How long does it last?
Most dermal fillers last between 6 months and 18 months, depending on the area treated and your metabolism.
What filler do you use?
We use hyaluronic acid and calcium hydroxylapatite fillers, including Restylane, Juvéderm, Radiesse, and RHA. Which one depends on the result you want.
Can it be reversed?
Hyaluronic acid fillers can be dissolved with an enzyme if needed. That's one reason we start conservatively.
Can I combine it with a lip flip?
Yes — a lip flip uses neurotoxin to roll the upper lip slightly outward, and pairs well with filler. It's $150 and we can discuss whether you need both.
How long do lip fillers last?
Lip fillers typically last between 6 to 12 months depending on the product used, your metabolism, and how your body processes the filler.
Will my lips look fake or overdone?
